Fed employee and voucher / section 8 conflict?

Sup BP!

A friend of mine was taking a training and knows that I have an interest in renting to voucher tenants. During their course they came across some information that sounds like, "no person can accept two forms of income from the federal government" and therefore, "can't contract with voucher tenants as a federal employee".

Has anyone else come across this? Any issues or is there a loophole that I can look into?

Thanks in advance!

Michael

@Michael Tucker are you going to be holding your properties in an LLC or other entity. Then you have no issue as your LLC does not work for the government.

Otherwise this restriction makes no sense. But of course the law doesn't always make sense.  I would research this but I can't imagine it would be an issue.  I would call section 8 office and ask them.  Also technically is the voucher program essentially giving the tenant income.

There are proposed laws in MD requiring landlords that they not discriminate based on a tenants source of income. The purpose of these laws is to force landlords to accept section 8. Follow my logic here. If under these laws section 8 subsidies are the source of income for the tenant. Then how is it income to you.
