very cool. It was an incredible experience I wouldn't change for the world.

And Loki005, it was an honor to serve.

Thanks everyone. My name is Mike, by the way. I grew up in Kings Park, I lived in Bethpage for 8 years and have just settled down in Stony Brook. I spent 4 years in the Marines and traveled the world when I was younger. I was in from 1989 - 1993 and served in Desert Storm. The experience was great. Now, I work as an IT manager.

I'm not exactly sure which REI to get into. I'm torn between multi-family homes, small apartment buildings, or commercial/office space. I guess it will depend on what financing I can get and where I can find a good deal.

Thanks!

Hello. I'm new to the Real Estate Investing world. I am 36, married with 2 kids, and have realized that I need more out of life than a boring 9-5 job that gives me no joy. It pays the bills but is far from exciting and I've grown tired of wishing the days away.

It's taken awhile to figure out what path I wanted to venture down and after much thought and consideration, I've committed to becoming a real estate investor. Right now I'm trying to learn as much as I can. My goal it to have my first investment property before the spring of 2008.

This is a great site and I've learned so much from just reading the boards here. It's a great resource and I plan on visiting daily. I look forward to sharing my experiences and reading others.

Post: When should I start my LLC?

I'm just starting in REI and am trying to learn as much as I can now. I was wondering at what point should a beggining Real Estate investor create their business entity. I've decided on an LLC. I don't have any properties on the horizon and probably won't start looking until early 2008.

I'm asking because I am going to start attending seminars, taking classes, etc and will be putting money into this.

My question is, should I create an LLC now so I can write off these expenses or should I wait until I'm about to start making offers on properties. I haven't decided whether I am going to start with multifamily homes or commercial/office buildings yet.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks.
