Post: Eviction in Cleveland Heights

Hello BPers,

Is anybody familiar with the eviction process in Cleveland Heights? Anybody knows about how long it takes to get a court date after filing? Is there a website where I can find info on the case? My case was filed 5 weeks ago, and still no court date.

Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

@Charlene McNamara Where in the Cleveland area did you purchase your property? I have a couple of duplexes (Cleveland Heights and Euclid), but I’m thinking I’ll go for SFR next time.

@Aaron Klatt I think they disconect/suspend service if the bill is not paid. Then owner is responsible for paying all charges and fees to get it back. Cleveland Heights in addition to wayer & sewer they also bill the owner (quarterly) for “sewer and landfill”. I am not sure if other cities in the area do the same.

@Aaron Klatt I am pretty sure it is the same for all cities in the Cleveland area.

Yesterday a received a letter from the City of Cleveland Heights stating that I owe $253.63 from my "quarterly local sewer and landfill" service account. I guess in addition to usage I also have to pay $80 extra. Is this normal?

I have two duplexes, one in Cleveland Heights and one in Euclid. The one in Cleveland Heights is rather large, 3,715 sq ft. That water/sewer bill has consistently been between $215 and $225 (for both). Yeah, it is a cash flow killer.  It is occupied by 5 people, total.
