I believe the frothy bubble that is our financial market will pop. Whether real estate will collapse as it did before, I am not sure. Keep your seed capital close, and perhaps invest in a foreign currency that may not be as badly affected by an impending financial crash.

I would shoot for double your down payment. That way, you have enough if things begin spiraling, and you can get  a good start on your project on your own terms.

I shoot for 3 posts/conversations a day, I think that is a good amount for personal development and to stay active on the platform.

I can see the appeal of wanting to keep foreign earnings completely separate from the US, as it simplifies things greatly. Seems ridiculous to have to pay tax to the USA if you have been living in a foreign country the past 10+ years.

I wonder what the costs of relocation would look like across states like that. I imagine it would be significant!

A good, trustworthy foreman cannot be replaced by any efficiency improvements you could try to apply. Find a contractor you can trust, and develop a healthy working relationship and respect. Pays off in spades.

@Account Closed I think your first stop should be to an international accountant, they can point you in the direction of good local accountants when the situation calls for it, and will be familiar with your specific circumstances.

I spent a lot of time in Tonga in the South Pacific, seemed like a great place to retire, with a very low cost of living. Have you considered the South Pacific? Seems your seed capital would go a long way down there!

Hi Trevor, I have personally seen interest rates as low as 3.2 % for a 30 year terms, and as high as 5% for a 5 year term. San Mateo here!
