Post: Is becoming a real estate agent a good or bad idea?

Hi @Ulises Delgado, that's a great question!! You don't have to be a real estate agent to start REI. In my opinion, I don't think it's a waste of time to take these classes. Not only will you get information about real estate buying and selling, but you will also have a real estate license under your belt. Hopefully this helps you a bit.

Best wishes!!

Hi @Manny Salinas, you are in the best place to find a mentor, BP has so many real estate investors and real estate professionals that can help you out. To help you find a mentor, what are you looking to do? Where do you want to invest? This way people with specific expertises will know that they would be the best suited mentor for you.

Best wishes!!!

Welcome to BiggerPockets @Josh Kainth!! Have you come across some REI methods that you would like to get into? Are you looking to get into BRRR, turnkey, etc? Either one is a great option, it just depends on how much time you have available to put into the property, it also depends on your handiness. Nevertheless, you have an awesome community here on BP, so if you have any questions, numbers you need crunched, or just need to vent about some REI frustrations, BP is always here for you.

Best wishes!! :)

Post: How do YOU analyze a Roofstock property purchase

Hi @Tim B., I wanted to back up what @Taylor L. and @Marco Santarelli said. Roofstock uses the phrase turnkey, but there is a difference between turnkey and full-service turnkey. Seeing that this will be your first rental property and you are looking at investing OOS, researching full-service turnkey companies will be your best bet. If you have a specific market you are looking to invest in, the BP community could give you some great full-service turnkey company options.

Best wishes!!

Hi @Austin M., welcome to BP! Your new job sounds very exciting, seeing a new locale every year, that will give you a leg up in OOS investing. I would recommend turnkey if you are looking to start investing in real estate. Turnkey will give you that passive income you are looking for until you decide to get into REI full-time.

For people who work a full-time job and don’t have a lot of time on their hands to rehab and do
a full renovation, trading their potential for forced appreciation, by not going with BRRR, for convenience is more valuable. Investors who choose turnkey are probably looking for passive income or they live in more expensive markets.

Full-service turnkey means that you don’t do any of the repairs or rehabbing on the property, the turnkey company does all of this work. The turnkey company has networks and systems in place to find the best properties and rehab to a high standard and quality. This also means that you won’t have to worry about vacancy risk during the rehab process.

This does not mean that you can't change your investment method in the future, this is a way to have a few rental properties in your portfolio and passive income coming in each month. I hope this helps you a bit.

Best wishes!!
