Ah...so STRs aren't just under attack in Nashville. Is it the hotel lobby pushing for the STR strangling legislation in CO?

Here, they are making massive headway in affecting property owner's rights to operate STRs.

What's your opinion on whether CO's SB-109 will pass? Would properties currently operating as STRs be allowed grandfathered status or would the increased taxes be applied to all STRs?

Hello All!

My wife and I own and operate a develop/build/design company in Nashville, TN.  We're deeply involved with the local real estate market...primarily on the new construction side.

We just visited Steamboat last weekend. First time "out West".  Oh. My. Goodness. We didn't want to come home.  Being from the South East, we do a lot of beach vacations.  Inevitably, by day 4, we always find ourselves thinking..."this is nice, but I could be home right now and be okay with that."  Not the case in Steamboat. We were kidding around about having the in-laws stick the kiddos on a plane and fly them out so we could stay longer!

1/2 way jokingly, 1/2 way not...we started looking at properties tonight just to see what the listings turned up. We have a lot of research to do, but, Lord willing...our first STRP will be in Steamboat...in the not so distant future!

Happy investing!

Hey Cory, welcome to BP!  This is a great place to start! Search for local meetups on the site. There is one that is meeting next Tuesday in Green Hills.

Best of luck!

@Devan Mcclish I 100% agree! Thanks for the feedback! Self funded projects are absolutely part of the goal. We are trying to build investor relationships to grow the GC side, just like you said, as diversified revenue, and to generate capital to fund our own projects.

Btw...were you at “deals” tonight? @Brandon Turner was there! It was our first time at the meeting...needless to say that was a surprise!

Thanks again for the feedback!

@Jay Hinrichs, Long term relationships are absolutely the goal!  We're just trying to determine if there are other things we can be doing to seek out and develop new relationships.
