Hey @Tom Ott,  Are you saying Cleveland and other Midwest mid market cities are a good place to live or a good place to invest? I appreciate the response either way, but my question was , “where is a good place to live?

Hey BP members,

I'm looking into self directed IRA's. Does anyone have experience with Camaplan or Equity Trust? Is one better than the other? What's the best bang for my buck? Love to hear your thoughts and experiences.

@Ned Carey

Good thoughts! I’m absolutely happy and content wherever I am. I was just thinking there maybe other places with other benefits. For instance, low taxes, good schools, lots of sunshine & outdoor activities, etc.  You’ll never know if you don’t ask.

It is often said “Live where you want, invest where it makes sense”. Many BP members talk about good markets where they invest.

But let me ask you this. In your opinion, where is a good place to live, to raise a family, to enjoy life and God’s creation.?

Great point @Scott Smith

I always thought owning property in an LLC was to protect you're personal property from a lawsuit against one one of your rental properties. I never thought of protecting your rental properties against a personal lawsuit. Thanks for the insight.

Thanks @Mike S.

I've invested as a limited partner in an out of state apartment syndication. The general partners held the acquisition in an LLC so I just invested as myself. I'm contemplating investing in another syndication in another state and now I was curious if I should be using my own LLC to invest or am I protect by the LLC that owns the asset. I have a small 6 unit multifamily in my own LLC and was contemplating add the syndication investment to that LLC or open a new one or just invest as myself.

@Scott Smith , @Mike S. thanks for your response. So I guess I'll be starting another LLC for each state that I buy in.

Does anyone know an LLC is needed for investing as a limited partner in a syndication?
