Hi yes the August does have a keypad feature but I believe it has to be purchased separately. I’ll look into the Schlage. The most important feature for me is having the ability to change entry codes remotely for different guests that check in.

Hello, trying to get an idea on keyless entry people are using to manage their vacation rental properties. I’m looking for something I can control remotely that also has a temporary passcode features that I can provide to guests. I’ve been into a few and I’m considering the August Pro smart lock. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thank you!

Dev, Yes there are a lot of regulations in Palm Springs and neighboring Palm Desert. As I mentioned, La Quinta and some parts of Indio are favorable for rentals. For your price point, there are properties you can find. Keep in mind the bigger space you have, the more you can charge on rents. PM me if your interested. I can connect you with a local agent that helped me.

Hi, I’m closing on my first property in La Quinta in a week. I live in the Pasadena area and the drive out there is about 2 hours no traffic. The vacation rental market in the Coachella Valley is pretty good but make sure to read up on local laws and ordinances in regards to STR’s. Palm Springs has a lot of restrictions and prices out there are a lot higher. If you look down to La Quinta or Indio, there are more favorably priced homes around and do well as vacation rentals. A pool is a must-have and the closer you are to amenities or festivals, the better you’ll be. I met one of my first contacts out here through BP and he mentored me a little through the process. Feel free to reach out.

Looking for a good local contractor or handyman to fix up a few things on a vacation rental property I’ve purchased in La Quinta. Will be closing in a week. Any references? Specifically, I’m looking to do a master bath remodel, maybe a few exterior paint/trim work and possible cabinet paint/refinishing just to name a few. Thanks!

A friend of mine also recommended the Arlo cam as well. I like the wireless feature as it’s easier to install compared to the wired ones, I just wasn’t sure on the reliability. Do you get notification if the battery is low? 6 months isn’t bad.

Hi Paul, Thanks for the reply. I’ll look into that. My main concern is monitoring the exterior property while the property is vacant. I would hate for tenants to unplug my cameras and run the risk of forgetting to plug back especially since I’m 2 hours away from my rental. I definitely would make sure they are aware of them but I would also mainly be putting them along the exteriors if the house

Hi everyone, My name is Mark. First time posting here on the site. I will be closing on my 1st property in the Coachella Valley-La Quinta area in the next week. I will be renting it out as a vacation rental on a short term basis. I’ve done my homework on laws/regs and license requirements already and have reached out to local cleaning teams and handymen. I plan on handling everything remotely and wanted to get some input on products you guys might use such as keyless entry locks, security cams and wireless thermostats etc. Any suggestions would be wonderful! Thank you. In case it matters, 2/2 1595sq ft on 9200 lot. Desert area where summers can reach triple digits. Thank you!
