Last night I contacted an old friend of mine whose older brother is a real estate agent. He got into the field after getting his masters in a different area, and it just so happened that his friend from high school started his own real estate business and wanted to hire him. I'm considering going for my licence to practice, and getting advice from him to help me reach that goal since he's been in it for a few years.

Is there an age you have to be to qualify? The program is online which is nice due to the fact that I work and don't have my own transportation currently.

Post: How does the price of a home increase after being flipped?

So I'm interested in how house flippers make their profit. From my perspective, they put a down payment on a house, get a hard money loan to pay the rest, use the remaining for the repairs, when it's finished the price of the home goes up, you sell the house and pay off the loan and whatever is left over is yours.

But I'm confused who determines the price of the home after it's been flipped and how it's determined. Could anyone give me some insight? Thanks.

I want to try to post something every day that I'm interested about to learn more about this business, so here it goes.

I'd like to know from experienced investors what your first investment strategy was that got the ball rolling. Renting out for cash flow or flipping the place?

Greetings from Florida!

I'm new to the site and with the idea of real estate investing in general. I just completed my profile and am ready to start getting familiar with BiggerPockets as I've only been watching podcasts uploaded to Youtube. As a youngster and a recent high school graduate, I look forward to reading the Ultimate Beginners Guide to REI.

Glad to meet you all and any advice about navigating around and using BiggerPockets to the best of my advantage for my education of starting my real estate investing career would be much appreciated, especially for investing with little money to begin with as I have nothing in personal savings currently. My income should be obvious from my job title above. I don't expect REI to be a get-rich-quick miracle, but every one has to start somewhere!

Thank you
