Hey BP community, I'm curious; are there any RE meet ups currently happening here (Nevada City or Grass valley)? I know my profile says Utah but I divide my time between Utah and California. If there isn't something going on already, would anyone be interested if I start something up? Although I enjoy connecting with folks all around i.e. Sacramento, Reno and Redding, it would also be fun to meet the local crew. Do give a shout out if your interested or if you're around the Nevada City/ Grass Valley area and want to say hello. I know there are tonnes of RE agents and brokers around, I'd love to meet some of you and the private investors, flippers, private money lenders and everyone else too! Cheers.

I've been waiting for this! @Scott Trench & @Mindy Jensen wahoo, great job.

Great debate! Its been said but it totally depends on your individual situation and personal goals, whats your income, how do you want to live in 20 years or 50 years (if one plans on being alive then), most importantly, what do you value? I know lots of people in Melbourne Australia (one of the most expensive places in the world to buy) who love renting in area's they could never afford to buy in their life time, they make great money and love having a full time gardener etc that someone else manages, I know renters who are dismayed, unhappy, have no savings.. but we all know home owners who fit that bill too. Grant Cardone is amazing, but what he is into isn't everyone's cup of tea. I like that BP talks to so many different people you just stick to the guidance of the people who are doing what you want to be doing, or those who resonate with you. I personally would rather use the little cash I have to enjoy my life or invest in my future, while my property pays for itself and becomes a future income for me.

@James Piercy I hope that inspector gave you your $$ back! I'm a first timer too and worried about this stuff, my husband (plumber/contractor) has told me countless stories about his customers who have been out thousands becuase of inspections that don't uncover the things they should. I'm curious to know whether the inspector may have had a prior relationship with the selling agent, sometimes inspections are kept vague to ensure the sale goes through (easy with out of state buyers who haven't seen the home). This kind of bad behavior isn't the norm from what I've seen, but it does get the ole hackles up! Maybe there is a light at the end of this tunnel, I'm sure its been said that this 'education' is relatively inexpensive compared to the horror stories out there. And if you learn from this experience, even better! At least you know you'll never make that mistake again, and in time that cost absorbed won't seem so bad. I agree with @Jay Hinrichs @Bruce Lynn and others who suggest markets with lower taxes, or being there in person. I am California based but my patch is in Utah and its a huge to me (even with one property) that I know my whole team, right to the cleaning lady, and they know that if something goes wrong, they'll have me knocking at their door if it comes to it! As a new investor I like partnering up with people who have been at it a little longer, that way I feel less likely to be taken advantage of too.

@Johnny Quilenderino Thank you for sharing! I've been considering getting my husband on board as a partner and I love to know of other couples who support each other in the RE journey.

@Johnny Quilenderino would you mind sharing what you and your wife do during the day (for work) and also how many properties you had to begin with? I'm a newbie soaking up every thing I can.

Hey @Shayne Cocotis I'm glad to "meet" another newbie who is near me and in the same age range. BP has been amazing in the 3 days I've been a member but I'm careful to read with a beginner mind, not to get overwhelmed with the plethora of information available! I'm only one deal ahead of you and they say your first deal is your hardest so if there is any support I can provide you, just holler!
