I am still new to real estate investing and I have a question. 

I have a showing appointment to look at a zoned single-family home that is advertised as having a mother-in-law. The mother-in-law suite could be seen as an apartment as it has a separate second story entrance, kitchen bedroom and bathroom. I just wanted to get more insight from anyone that has dealt with something similar. Should this throw up a red flag for me?

My main concern is, could this potentially become a zoning problem down the road if I rent house and mother-in-law suite separately?
