Hey BP!

I'm midway on my first BRRRR duplex, have my unit done and after an injury and some other setbacks, back underway on my second unit.

I have an extra bedroom in my unit, and am considering renting it out. I live in NJ.

I am wondering what people have done (besets practices), places to post the listing as just the room, etc.

Any info would be great, wanting to take more proactive steps and increase my savings rate and pickup more rentals.

I'd be more inclined to look at Camden VS Trenton. Neither is pretty but at least Camden has the proximity to Philly and Rutgers Camden campus, so in theory there's more opportunity there. If you are paying attention to the waterfront, they have some projects going on and some others proposed in the area.

Caleb Heimsoth sums it up well. All personal choice but buying out leases or fleet vehicles if you have access to that somewhere is the best financial move. Wish I had done that a few years back, bought a new Toyota Corolla a few years back, not a terrible car choice decision but almost paid off!

Lillian,

Have you driven past that way? Personal opinion, but I wouldn't touch much west of Calhoun St. Only you know what you're willing to deal with though, I always would drive an area I invest in at least for local investing ...

I'd 100% give him a shot. Frankly if I was in your area I'd be asking who he was so I could give him work. If he's struggling to find work as you say he is, he might become an invaluable resource for you and you're helping someone who needs it more than the average joe.
