"The bigger they are, the harder they fall."

I am a real estate investor in Taipei, Taiwan.  In the past decade here, it has been like California.  You could buy a million dollar home in the best area and it doubled in 7-10 years.  Yes, it appreciated 100k each year.  Now, if you sold that house at the peak, you made a million dollars.

We sold a property at the peak and if we were to wait a year later, that house also went down in 100k.  And now if we were to sell that same property two years later, it went down another 100k-150k.  The owner of that property is thinking that hopefully it will go up in the future again, but presently they are 200k under what they paid for the property.

When you bet big, you can win big...... but you can lose big too.  It is important to understand the environment/politics that are going on in the area that you buy/sell property.

Since I am new to this, there is some real estate jargon (ex. "High volume correspondent lender, etc." that is kind of unfamiliar to me.

If I own a house in full, have some money in a bank, BUT I have not worked in the states for a long time and don't really have credit...... will I still be able to get loans?

Or what direction would you guys go in regards to getting started with investing in Dallas?

Thanks in advance guys!

Kevin

Newbie investor into the Texas Market.  (Worked previously in Asia)

About me :

1. Owner of a house in full.

2. Currently have about 150k in bank savings at Bank of America.

Who do you guys go to for bank loans?  Big banks like Bank of America or smaller, local ones?

Thanks in advance

Kevin

Eager to start investing in Texas, as we were investing in Taiwan before and have moved are money back into the states after selling high in Asia.  Currently, have my foot in the door with as a private hard lender, which has been pretty lucrative, but now looking for a partner or partners to team up with to learn about the ins and outs of real estate investment in the Dallas area.  Interested in commercial real estate and single family homes.

I know this a broad search, but thought I would just throw it out there
