Lance,

Glad you posted on this topic. I was wanting some of this info all in one place.

I'll be visiting the meeting in Ft. Worth this weekend, but I am not sure what you think about that, being all the way in Frisco.

Hope you find a meet up that works for you.

Hey Kennex,

Welcome to BiggerPockets! I am also trying to learn about Real Estate Investing. I have received all kinds of good "beginner" information from blog posts, podcasts and webinars available here on the BP site.

I suppose you already know this, but as a physician your personal income should offer you a great way to get into the market if you live and plan right. I have a physician cousin (not in the DFW area) who invests with many of his fellow docs. They invest in medical use buildings and special equipment using the specialized knowledge that they have that many normal investors might not understand.

Anyway, I hope to see you around BP and wish much sucees for you on this path. By the way, I plan on visiting my first DFW Real Estate meet up this Saturday. I'm going to a REI club meeting at the Wood Haven Country Club in FW at 9:00 a.m. unless some wise BPer reaches out to me with a better / wiser offer.

Good Luck!

- Kevin

p.s. What type of name is Kennex? Is it from a specific ethnic group? Or, are your parents "hippies", especially creative or is this name more common and I just don't know much about the hot new, names? Just curious.

Wow.

Thanks @Edita D. .

Hadn't thought of a foundation issue like that in Fort Worth (or some of the other neighborhoods.) I'll file that info away or find it again when I am looking for info on the BP site.

Hey @Ross Schneider & @Amelia Woolsey ,

I'll try to get to one of those meet ups at Woodhaven Country Club. Do those take place every Saturday (or most) or are they some other time?

Does this Fort Worth REI group have an official name or site?

Any way, once again, best of luck to you Ameilia.

Hey David,

Welcome to the forums. I only entered the forums last week so we are in a pretty similar situation. I am currently trying to learn about Real Estate Investing. I have some capital either for my home purchase or hopefully a home plus a rental property, but over the next couple of months at least, I mainly want to learn, think and find wise people who I may be able to walk besides.

Also @Tim Bishop & @David Britton , count me in if you guys set up a BP meet up. I will be finding a meeting or two with some local REI groups, but one that features some other BP sounds even more appealing.

David we can help each other and learn together in the future.

Wow.

You @William Sackett are a saint! You get the no show and you are still willing to give another chance. I know you said it was a "legitimate" excuse, but...

When I find my DFW veterans (and mentors) I hope they are as nice and patient as you. Plus, I'll do my darndest not to stand them up. Especially when I am first meeting them.

Thanks to all you veterans who spend time helping the new folks like me.

@Sam Elder ,

I have only been a fellow Irvingite for a little more than a month.

I grew up in North Richland Hills. Feel much more at home in Hurst, Euless and Bedford. And have many more friends and contacts in Keller, Grapevine, etc. (Basically I am a Fort Worth / NE Tarrant County boy who is in a whole new place.)

Any hints you can give me on this part of the Metroplex would be most appreciated.

1) Restaurants... I love food 2) Shopping or Fun 3) Even Real Estate Investor Meet Ups (with out a guru up sale)

I need to know and find out everything.

I appreciate the well wishes from everyone.

Just to add a little more info: I am planning on buying a home or mult-family property in the next 6 to 9 months.

Also, thanks to @Andrew Davis , @Jerry Padilla and @Dmitriy Fomichenko  . I can use any hints or guidance you BP veterans can offer.

Hope to see many of you around the BP community.

Ameilia,

Good luck on BP. I am a new member in Bigger Pockets and a newbie in Real Estate Investment. Also, I grew up in the Fort Worth area.

If you find or know of any good REI meet ups in the Fort Worth or Mid-cities area, please let me know.

You sound like you are a little further along than I am in getting started. Have you been to any meet ups or talked to local investors already?

Hey @Cory Gardner ,

Welcome to BP. I am new like you.

I also am already knee deep into the podcasts and tried the webinar yesterday. I am sure you will find many resources to help you as you invest and grow.

Keep It Up!

p.s. @Paul Timmins . You mentioned a niche like student housing. Any good resources, BP members or other thoughts to start understanding this market?
