for Re-fi do the lenders give you anything in writing, so that I can compare among different offers?  Sort of like a good faith estimate

I've just finished converting my primary residence to a 2 family home and about to refinance and get some money out to purchase another multifamily homes. This would be the first time I'm refinancing so I was thinking of just going to bankrate.com, punch in my info and see what banks gives me the best rate/closing fee . 

I'm curious to know  your process for finding the right bank is when shopping for cash out refi. thx.

He's looking in old bridge

so here's some more specifi info.. if that would clarify...

His father originally bought the house 30 years ago. (aprox $100k )

at some point he gave the house over to my friend.

He and his wife lives in the house as their primary residence.

House is paid off.

He wants to be able to take full value of the house (aprox.. $700k)

buy another house to live in in New Jersey.

Would he be able to defer the tax ?

Quick tax question..

My friend lives in staten Island.. Lived there his whole life 30+ years.  He's look to sell his house which is all paid off for about 700K and then buy another house all cash in Jersey.  What are the TAX implication of move like that..

I am closing on a house next week which needs medium rehab
This is a 2 family home in Bayonne , Need some thoughts on how the order of renovation . I am going to use a GC but also will be involved/informed 

The list of things in scope are 

1. roof  (new rubber roof and paint ) 
2. garage in basement ( big work , move gas boilers and sewer lines 
3. bathrooms
4. new kitchen ( relocate old kitchen )
5. windows 
6. all other work  floor, paint etc etc
