I believe the Homeaway brand is even being phased out, and VRBO will be the brand.

"There’s really nothing out there." Really? I did not find that to be the case. When I was starting, I found quite a few Kindle books, some more helpful than others, and none (as others have said) as useful as reading host and investor forums, but to say no books on the subject exist is inaccurate.

More and more hosts are gravitating to smart TVs and streaming services only. I've had no complaints from older people (or anyone else), although I do plan to provide better instructions.

As a result of weaning myself from cable/satellite, I've found that I can get local channels and quite a few basic-cable channels through PSVue, which is about $50/month. Guests can also set up guest profiles on my Prime and Netflix accounts. Another option is Hulu, though I'm not currently using it. A number of apps with free offerings are also available for smart TVs.

Antenna not an option for me, as I am just outside the reach zone.

That's what I do. What would other choices be?

One of my listing is a manufactured home; in fact, it very obviously looks like an 80s single-wide trailer. My photos make it clear what it is. It's a new-ish listing, but in 30+ bookings so far, no one has even mentioned the manufactured aspect. I pride myself on the fact that you'd never guess from the interior that it's a mobile home, and i suspect yours is that way, too.

I knew I had read it before but thought it was on one of the Facebook STR groups!

It seems to me that the bad card would be declined immediately.

Post: Getting Airbnb Reviews

I'm in the same camp as those above who are specific in requesting 5-star reviews. My wording is: "As you probably know, we Airbnb hosts live and die by 5-star reviews. I hope you will consider a positive review for your stay."

I also tell them I look forward to giving them a great review. That wording kinda covers me in case I find something negative (has not happened yet).

I have a "review nudge" template, but I think I've used it only once in 2.5 years. I'm now at the point where I have plenty of reviews. These days, I think I would nudge only if I knew a guest had absolutely adored the place but had not left a review.

Well said, @Julie McCoy. Completely agree. Don't know why people get into a tizzy over extra, unneeded software.
