@Daray Olaleye Happy Belated Birthday! I hope you celebrated with a cake! Your story is inspiring. You have a true entrepenure spirit! My husband and I have faced challenges this year as well. I can relate to things being delayed and feeling like it will never close. We have put in a bid for a duplex this year and things fell through because of unexpected code violations. Rather than try to negotiate, we walked away because the sellers were not the owners but trustee's to their parents property. Anyway, thank you for sharing your story and I am so happy that things are turning around for you!

Hello everyone,

I am looking to purchase a multifamily property in Broome county, specifically in Vestal, Johnson City or Binghamton. I am currently living in Florida but I will be moving there in August for grad school. I will need an agent who is familiar with the area and willing to provide detailed photos/videos of these houses. I will not be able to move to the area before August. I am not too concerned with appreciation because I want to buy and hold properties.

If you are an agent in the Upstate New York area, please reach out!

Thank you~

I second that! I also came across this deal website platform and your review has stopped me from wasting my time. Thanks!

@Jeff Filali That's an inspiring story Jeff! I can't believe you were able to purchase a property and then make a profit on your first deal!

My husband and I recently put in a few bids and we're anxious to hear back from the seller. We are in a similar situation where the property is under valued and worse case, we can sell it and make a profit. But we are focused on buy and hold.

@Gil Pang Wow! That's amazing you were able to find a duplex for so cheap! What area of Queens did you buy the house? I'm originally from there so I am shocked considering most homes are going for $800k+ in some parts of Queens.

@Adam Christopher Zaleski Wow! I am so inspired by your story and it definitely gives me the confidence to pursue a career in higher education and real estate investment! I am currently working an adjunct teaching ESOL part time and I am planning to apply to graduate school to become a professor. My motivations for REI are to fund my expenses during graduate, so that I can pursue my degrees without having to worry about finances. But I am glad to know there are others doing what I hope to do!! Thanks for sharing!

@Jerry Poon The lifestyle I have visualized is basically what Adam described earlier. I want to work on a college campus teaching because I want to and not because I have to do it. I also envision a lot more free time to spend cooking/baking and raising a family. For me to consider myself financially independent, I want to make at least 50k a year through rental properties.

The hardest part about starting out is actually taking the plunge! I am in the network building stages. I am hoping that when the right deal comes along, all of these people, will help make closing on the deal a smooth process.
