INTRO: Before asking my question I wanted to introduce myself to BP: I reside just outside of NYC and have been looking for residential real estate investments for the last six months in NY, NJ and central CT. Fortunately and unfortunately, I am still (patiently) looking. I am looking forward to interacting with the BP community, and being able to give back.
QUESTION: Should I pursue a Real Estate Salesperson License, if I am not looking to be an RE agent? Are there disadvantages of having a RE Salesperson License that I should be aware of?
BACKGROUND: About 7 years ago I completed and passed the 45 hour NY Real Estate Salesperson Course, but I [foolishly] did not apply for my state license. If I wanted to obtain my license today I would need to sit for an additional 30 hour course and pass the state exam. My goals are not to be a real estate agent, but after I heard Shaun Reilly's strategy (on BP Podcast 43), I am now very interested in obtaining my license to get MLS access to by throwing a lot of low offers against the wall and seeing what sticks.
