@Hobart King

I have homes in C neighborhoods. Homeowners insurance are about $1150 a year each with Progressive.

Add taxes makes it $2168 and $2028 and $2145 each annually.

Two years ago I bought brand new all brick house for 150 k that cost $575 a year insurance plus 1600 for a total of $2167 annually.

So I pay the same amount for taxes and insurance on a house that is half of new brick home. The reason is the city and county each are in.

Good luck

G

Yes I am from here. My family has been in Alabama nearly 200 years.

Look at homes in Shelby and St Clair county that are suburbs of Birmingham or far west Jefferson County were the jobs from Mercedes plant 30 miles away. Stay out of city of Birmingham. Good luck jp.

You can buy 2 brand new brick 3/2 attached 2 car garage for $170000 each in Calera Alabama Class B neighborhood. Taxes and insurance pest control would be about $2500 annually. Rent about $1400 month.

No major maintenance for 15-20 years. Appreciate about 5-7 percent annually. Good luck. Jp

@Sean Rotbart

Stay away from Birmingham schools. Most Jefferson County schools are ok.

I grew up close to Belview Hts. A lot of nice middle class homes. Now the bad news. Run don’t walk away from that area. Terrible schools. You can be 3-4 blocks away from the wild Wild West with bad guys and shooting and stealing. Stay out of Birmingham schools. Look further west Hueytown or McCalla. North Fultondale- garden dale or east in Pinson. Good luck. Jp

@Abhijit Trivedi

Another time when Spartan over promised and under delivered. They are well known to promise more rent than the neighbors can stand and let it stand empty for months and by dropping the rent and get it cash flowing. Good luck. Try Expert reality. Eddie or Tish. Good luck. Jp.

What is the zip code. There are some areas are the wild Wild West. Some areas you need to arm yourself. The best way is to ride around the neighbourhood and talk to some utility workers and postman. These people know the streets in the area. Good luck JP

@David Chappell I probably won’t even drive thru there nor would I invest there. Walmart even closed their store in Fairfield 5 or 6 years ago. That should tell you something. Good luck.
