C.O.I.N is a free and informal real estate education and networking group in the Columbus and Central Ohio area.

Every 3rd Tuesday of the month we have a short speaker (no pitching) who talks about their specialty in real estate.

The speaker for our meeting will be Jim Pfeifer. He recently became a full time real estate investor focusing on passive investments, which currently includes apartment buildings in Houston, Dallas and Phoenix, a mobile home park in Alabama, turnkey houses in Memphis and Dayton, an assisted living facility in Illinois, marijuana farms in California and Oregon, a cacao farm in Belize, a little bit of Crypto and a coffee farm in Panama. He will discuss his journey from the accidental landlord of a single family home to owner of 34 units of multi-family housing before finally settling (for now) on passive investing in real estate syndications. He invests using both his tax deferred eQRP and after tax funds, while concentrating on generating cash flow from passive assets.

C.O.I.N is a free and informal real estate education and networking group in the Columbus and Central Ohio area. We've had some great turn outs the last couple months and look forward to growing our group!

Every 3rd Tuesday of the month we have a short speaker (no pitching) who talks about their specialty in real estate.

The speaker for Septembers meeting will be Todd Sterling. He is an active real estate investor and real estate agent in Columbus. He will talk about the Magic of Wholesaling. There are three main parts of any real estate business: Time, Money and Hustle. If you have the first two, but you don't have hustle, wholesaling is probably not for you. Todd will be discussing his experience; the good, the bad and the ugly of what he has seen in real estate. Most importantly what real estate can do for you if applied correctly.

For a very entertaining 30 minutes, come to this event! It will be the truth with lots of great information. Todd believes if someone knows how to wholesale effectively, they have built the cornerstone of a very successful future in real estate.

Please try to arrive around 6 pm to network and order food and drinks. The speaker will start at 6:30 pm. As a reminder, we get the room for free, so please help us keep it "free" by spending some money!

I have never heard of this before.  What is his motivation here?  Is the goal to add value, or to give himself a place to grow plants?

I actually like the idea, but no, I don’t think it will add value. Being on the corner like that I would think there is a good chance for vandalism as well.

We are looking for a person who is passionate about real estate and who would find benefit in learning from us. We have done 200+ deals in the last 5 years and currently own 150 units and manage in house. We are branching out to the Cincinnati market and looking for someone in the area who could meet sellers at houses, take pictures, evaluate the property, put a lockbox on when we are done, meet utility companies at properties, etc. Shoot me a PM if you have any interest in an arrangement like this!

Every 3rd Tuesday of the month we have a short speaker (no pitching) who talks about their specialty in real estate.

This month, @Peter Lohmann will discuss All Things Property Management. Peter is the principal broker and CEO of RL Property Management, a residential property management company located near downtown Columbus. He will be discussing all things property management, including landlord/tenant law, tips for lease renewals, how much to rent your property for, evictions, using technology to make it easier to show properties and reduce no-shows, and how his company helps property owners transform their investment into passive income.

Peter bought his first rental property in 2008 and owns several around Columbus. His background is in engineering but he has been operating the management company full-time for 6 years. Peter also teaches part-time for Hondros and is presently working with them to develop a series of new online property management courses. He also served on the 2018 State of Ohio Property Management Task Force, which recently made recommendations to the Ohio Division of Real Estate that will include large changes to how property managers are licensed in Ohio.

This month, @Brian Fisher will discuss Working a 9-5 with a Side Hustle. Brian currently has a 9-5 job for which he drives 180 miles round trip each day and additionally the job requires him to travel 50% of the time. Somehow he still finds time to invest in real estate - and attend networking events! He currently has six properties he is in the process of flipping and hopes to include the buy and hold rental strategy later this year.

Please try to arrive around 6 pm to network and order food and drinks. The speaker will start at 6:30 pm. As a reminder, we get the room for free, so please help us keep it "free" by spending some money! After the speaker, feel free to move into the space behind the meeting room - this will hopefully reduce the networking noise!!
