What big trouble areas are you hearing about in Michigan?

@Sapir Simply

I would 127% KEEP my given name! A name is very important and helps identify you as YOU. There are plenty of agents from various ethnic backgrounds that have no problems at all finding business in this industry. Your clients will hire you because of your personality WAY before they hire you because of your name.

I would also question taking advice from anyone who suggests you change your name. Those folks may have some self esteem issues, honestly.

Either way, whatever you choose to do, just know that building a strong relationship with your clients should be a top priority.

Perhaps it is the very control you are mentioning that has caused the dollar to be worth less than its ever been.

@Jakhari Sandcroft

That’s awesome that you are interested in Real Estate investing at your age. I had no idea what I wanted to do when I was a senior in high school.

If I were in your shoes, and this may be against popular opinion, I’d get my Real Estate license and join a successful local team. Doing so will help with hands on networking, learning about the ins and outs of the real estate industry, and can develop your people skills and sales skills. You could potentially be brought in to assist on deals. Also, could meet a mentor.

Best of luck to you!

@Darrell D.

I didn’t know what type of business Raising Canes was until I googled it, but I would argue against getting into the restaurant business if you are looking for passive income opportunities.

I am a franchisee (13 years strong) of a Metro Detroit fried chicken franchise, and our biggest challenge is finding quality team members. And when I say BIGGEST challenge, think MASSIVE challenge, lol. Since COVID hit, it’s almost as though nobody wants to work in the restaurant/QSR industry. Now, I am aware that different areas produce different quality employees, but being an “entry level” type business (QSR), I’d argue that it will be tough in ANY market to find good help.

With that being said, if you are still interested in the industry, hopefully you can find a partner who would be willing to operate the stores without requiring too much, if any of your time.

Thanks for the input, guys! I should add that I am fully on board with my fiduciary responsibility to my clients. I am not currently working with any investors, but I plan to do just wanted to hear from some experienced investor Realtors. I have ZERO intentions on stepping on my clients toes!

I know we have a fiduciary responsibility to our clients, but is it ever difficult for you to hold back from keeping a solid deal for yourself? 😆

Are the potential tenants who fit your criteria less likely to have Covid?
