I Don’t Know Where To Start

Posted

Hello everyone! I am a senior in high school trying to get in to real estate investing. What are some helpful tips to get started. I’m located in Florida by the way.

Start with educating yourself - it's free (or almost free) for the most part, for example, check out:
The Bigger Pockets Bookstore

The Bigger Pockets Podcast (almost 600 episodes of free education on hundreds of real estate topics)
The Real Estate Rookie Podcast from BP (another 200 hours or so right down your alley as a newbie)

Beyond that, there are dozens of other podcasts out there (including mine at the link below, hint hint!) that will teach you all sorts of real estate topics and strategies for free. So be wary of the gurus out there who want to charge you $1000 for a weekend seminar, or $30,000 for a series of coaching seminars - You are literally their target demographic. While some of these are perfectly legit (and some are better than others), it isn't necessary to spend 10's of thousands of dollars to learn about real estate, especially when you're 18.

Another very low cost option that will open a lot of doors for you is getting your Florida real estate license. We actually talked about this on the most recent episode of our podcast with Gary Wilson.
