Hi my name is Jessica Larson. I work at a property management company in the Greater Cleveland/Akron area, and am new to Bigger Pockets. I am interested to know what investors want to know when looking to hire a property management company?

Let me know if you have any questions about specific areas.

I would be happy to connect.

Some parts of Slavic Village are fine but the west side of Cleveland is better along with any of the suburbs. I work on the property management side of REI and we usually get a lot of investors who have great success in cities like Euclid, Parma, Bedford, Lakewood, Maple Hts., etc., just to name a few.

Quote from @Jesse Edwards:

Hi Everyone-

I figured I'd introduce myself. My name is Jesse Edwards. I live in Portland OR. I spent over 2 years on the sidelines of the real estate game, trying to find cash flowing properties in the Portland area without luck. Just this past year I really began my real estate journey.

Long-Distance Real-estate Investing, and Skip the Flip has changed my life. In my first year I've managed to establish a remote "team" (Agent, PM, Construction Contacts) Purchase 7 doors, complete 3 BRRRs, 2 others in process. Each taking out on average 48k over over initial investment while retaining positive cash flow. Additionally I'm taking my step into multi-family as I'm about to close on my first multi-family 10 unit next week!

It has been an amazing journey and have my goals set to be able to replace my W2 in 5 years and be financially free.

Apart from the financial aspect of this, my "why" for real-estate is that I feel I'm creating quality housing that would otherwise not exist for a community. My romanticized aspiration would be to revitalize any entire block house by house taking it from forgotten to flourishing.

I'm currently investing in the Pittsburgh PA area, and looking to expand into other markets (I've had my eye on Cleveland, OH) but would like to find something closer to the PNW as well.

I'd love to connect with others, grow my connections and create new opportunities.

Thanks for your time and I look forward to getting to know you all!

Congrats on your accomplishments so far, that is very exciting! It sounds like you have gotten a solid foot in the door, and have a great plan going forward.

As for investing in Cleveland, I am a part of a property management company in that area and can attest that it is a great place to invest in.

I'm happy to connect in case you ever need anything in the Cleveland area.

No not a good place to start. SPEAKING with people that actually are doing work there is the way to go. So many just sit on the internet and " take its advice. " Reading books and watching tapes NOT reality This is why I see so many failings.

All the best

Yes, I agree that no one should base it solely on one suggestion, but it is one of the many tools an investor can use in search of a property manager.

Have a great day

I suggest checking narpm.org. It's a professional trade association for property managers. It is a paid membership for the PMCs, so it typically only brings in accountable and ethical property management companies.

Have you tried checking with narpm.org? It's a professional trade association for property managers. It is a paid membership for the PMCs, so it typically only brings in accountable and ethical property management companies. There may not be a lot in Akron but some in Cleveland will cover the Akron area.
