Hey Parul!

I know I'm a little late to the party but I get excited when I find a fellow New Yorker on the site. I'm in a similar boat as you as I currently live in Queens and work in Manhattan. I don't have a ton of knowledge or experience investing but I've been an RE agent in Manhattan for 18 months now an aspiring investor since I was 20yrs old and a BP member for about 4 weeks. I'm absorbing as much info and reading as many books as I can. I hope to start investing within the first quarter of this year. I know it will be tough in NY, but I find that Queens and some areas of Brooklyn are still very much "ripe for the picking." Plenty of fixer uppers, and distressed properties to start flipping or wholesaling. So, Welcome to BP. Enjoy the wealth of knowledge and camaraderie it offers.

Hope to see you there!

Those sound like great words of wisdom. I've done some work and found out who the owner is. Was even able to get his home address. There are no tax liens on the property, its just vacant and in disrepair. I'm not sure what the next step would be. Do I send a letter? That seems like the next logical step or at least one of the next steps. Just talking this out, helps. Thanks for listening. JD-

Welcome to BP. . . again! So glad to see another member from the Tri-State area. I live in Queens, NY and I've been on the site for just a couple of weeks now, and I find it to be the best thing since sliced bread! I'm sure you would agree. I'm also looking to do a wholesale deal a.s.a.p! Theres a house across the street that looks ripe for the picking! However, I'm not confident enough in my RE skills to jump in just yet. Anyhoot. Thats my story. Welcome!. . . Again!

@Andre Snaggs Welcome to BP. I'm currently in the same boat as you. Trying to learn as much I can and anxiously waiting to jump into my first deal. BP is the best place to be for us newbies (and of course experienced guys/gals too!). Nice to see another Tri-State area member. I'm in Queens but originally from Manhattan.

Try to make the BP meetup on Jan. 14th and I'll see you there!

@Darren Sager I'm not sure why but the link to the NYC Meet-up post is no longer active. Please tell me it didn't get cancelled. :(

@Chad Bernstein

Hey Chad, Thanks for reading.

I would love to put together a NYC area BP meet-up. It would be great if I had some help, especially from someone who has connections with local venues. Is this something that we would need to charge for? How would we cover the cost? I know I would pay at least $20 to attend if there were one in place already.

Let me know your thoughts. Feel free to email me: [email protected]

Hey All,

I'm Javier Diaz a NYC RE Salesperson and aspiring RE Investor. I'm fairly new - to the God sent that is BP - and I would like this post to do at least one of two things.

1. Serve as a "heads up" to others in the NYC area looking for Real Estate Meet-up groups.

2. Help me a find a NYC Real Estate Meet-Up/Club.

Yesterday I attended a group meeting in NYC. I decided to attend because it's one of the recommended steps for new investors like myself, who are looking to network with like-minded folk.

Sidenote: I think I read that somewhere in something called the UBG (Ultimate Beginners Guide to Real Estate Investing found here on BP - If you haven't read it - do so!).

So, I found this REI group by using an app called "Meet-Up" or meetup.com. I actually found two groups in the NYC area. One is called the "Real Estate Entrepreneurs" and the other is called "Lions Club - Real Estate Investors Network" . On Thursday night Jan. 2nd I attended the RE Entrepreneurs meet-up for the first time. I arrived early and was able to introduce myself to a few of the attendees, the majority of who seemed to be first timers and eager to network with others as well. There was a pretty good turn-out given the winter storm warning that had been announced for the Tri-State area.

Long story short. It was just a Renatus pitch. I had already attended a Renatus webinar and decided it was too rich for my blood and didn't have a desire to become a salesman for Renatus. Ultimately, that is what they want. They want people to buy an "education package" (That can range anywhere from $2000-$15,000) and then turn around and sell that package to as many other aspiring RE investors as possible.

My Renatus experience wasn't all bad. It's how I came to find BP. I asked google what others were saying Renatus and found a link to a post on BP discussing "the gurus". And now, I get - for FREE! - what Renatus was asking $15,000 for.

If anyone reading this knows of a true Real Estate Investors Network or Meet-Up in NYC, Queens, Brooklyn or nearby New Jersey or Long Island please let me know.

I'm also looking for a mentor and to assist local investors in finding deals, submitting offers, and basically being an investor friendly agent.

Thanks much, and happy investing!

Javier Diaz-

Hey Kevin Seith Welcome to BP. I'm fairly new here myself. I'm still in the process of absorbing as much knowledge as I can. I'm also from NYC and currently in the Queens area. I think Queens is full of investment opportunity. There are many residential areas where one can still find a decent deal to flip or hold without breaking the bank. I'm a licensed agent and I would be glad to help in anyway I can. Cheers!

Hi Chris Moore , I'm also in the Queens and Brooklyn area (Woodhaven on 98th st.) I'm a licensed RE agent with all the time in the world to scour for deals. Would be down to meet-up and chat. Let me know.
