I am new to invest but will be going along the same route with rentals...moreso house hacking a duplex or triplex when the right deal comes along! From my knowledge, reading books and podcasts, many investors analyze the deal of cash flow. So it really depends on the route you are going...will you be living in the property? 

...in addition to paying down the mortgage dont forget to count for repairs when setting aside money, so I guess you would't "stash" the rest of the money for investing in another property. Brandon Turner just hosted a great webinar on analyzing rental properties.

@Sebastian E. Sorry I wasn't clear, yes, I am interested in house hacking with a multifamily unit. 

Thanks @Sebastian E. ! I am finding that many of the homebuyer programs cannot be used for house hacking...unless the lender I am working with is unsure. I am still waiting to hear back from a few other lenders.

Hello there!

So here I am, newbie, going on my third month of BP, eager to get out and invest. After trying to connect with a lender, I hit a snag. No response after several emails and phone calls were exchanged. Not sure why but... time to search again!

I don't want to over-complicate things but I am concerned that shopping around is going to take some hits to my credit score. Can someone assist in the BEST way to shop for a lender...

My goal is to house hack....

Thanks for your feedback @Ned Carey ! I went driving around and as I crossed over Barclay, it was like two different areas. I still have some driving around to do. It's a little difficult just driving around and trying to determine if a unit it single family or multi unit.
