@Mark Guagliardo - thanks for the read, I couldn't figure any downsides as long as the fees aren't exorbitant and the rules/covenants are reasonable

@Upen Patel it is a single family home, not a condo. Hawaii has some odd real estate constructs that are probably unfamiliar to you.

I'm considering a property here in Oahu, Hawaii and wondering if there are any downsides to buying a single-family home that is in a condominium property regime (CPR). Are there any "gotchas" besides the added fees and association rules?

@Duke Hartman I'm here on Oahu and might be able to help. Send me a message with your phone number if you're interested.

@Jamie Martin welcome! I've got a similar story as well, except I came from Georgia instead of Idaho.

Appreciate the warm welcome everyone!

@Elizabeth Colegrove congrats, that's awesome!

@Brianne Frey where to live all depends on where you will be working and what sort of place you can afford. The farther West you go, the cheaper in is generally, with the exception of Ko'Olina resort, and there can be a lot more traffic depending on the time of day.
