All I can say is how dumb of him! His second mistake is that he has a profile on Bigger Pockets.

Welcome Aprile,

What type of investing do you want to pursue? BiggerPockets is an awesome resource, especially the podcast b/c you can download and listen to them in the car or where ever.

I would suggest going to some of the REIAs/Meetups in the area. There are tons of meetings every week in the NoVA/DC/Balt area. Just do a search for real estate investing on www.meetup.com.

@Evan Schluederberg as a wholesaler that works the Bmore, area Baltimore is a "Great" investment area,...DEPENDING, on where you want to live. Baltimore is literally a street by street, block by block, investing quandary. There are parts of Baltimore city, where a war zone is right next to a great middle class area. For instance, my neice lives 2 blocks from North Ave, where some of the rioting was. In fact she called us during the riots giving my wife and I a play by play by what she could see. Now the block on the street she lives on is single family row houses that are nice. It's a family block, ...yet she 2 blocks away her street intersected with the riots. I have friend who lives in a upper class area, but across the street median is a lower class area,...it looks absolutely crazy when I drive there.

Once you've identified an area of the city, you need to know the blocks that you want to live on.

@Chesapeake Techie ,

There are a ton of meetup & REIA meetings in MD. I'm not sure about any in Chesapeake MD, but there are quite a few in the greater DC-BALT metro & surrounding areas.

Also forgot to add, as an exercise on the 1 or 2 day, they "teach" you how to raise our credit limit for "investing purposes". Needless to say we did it, and abracadabra on the 3rd day, we were able to afford our REI package.
