Brian - did you ever find your solution.  I am looking at purchasing a home to move it and am analyzing the numbers.  I am looking for a company to perform my local move and would be interested in what you found out.

Welcome to the group and thanks for your service.  I am did my active duty for 8 and have now been a reservist for the last 6 years. As far as advice, I would say this site is a great start but also look for a real estate investors group in your area.  I looked for one through the real estate offices etc and there literally wasn't one for my area so I made one on Meetup.com.

@Lyndi N., welcome to the world of Bigger Pockets. I am always glad to see other NoDaks on these pages.  I am a pretty new transplant myself and have only lived here for a little over 1 year, but I see tremendous potential in the local real estate market.  The only problem that I have noted is the lack of private and hard money lenders for the state.

As @Eric Mauricio stated, we do have a real estate investors (REI) group that I started for the East Grand Forks and Grand Forks area. We currently have almost 30 members. Welcome to the group. You have the right ideas about building passive income for your future. The biggest this is to DO IT. Take that step! Far too many folks talk about dreams and then stop there. This is a great site to connect with other like minded folks. Definitely get connected with a local REI. If you can't get good connections their in Fargo, Like @Eric Mauricio said, there is the group that I started in the Grand Forks and East Grand Forks Real Estate Meetup.  Get connected and get to doing.  PM me and I can shoot you a link as I am not sure if it's allowed for me to link it here.

Zach is right - Location - Location - Location. North Dakota is a great state for investing but the ROI futures definitely depend on the location. The West end of the state (Williston area) has some major adjusting that it is going through due to the worlds oil market. Where is this located?

@Eric Mauricio I totally agree.  It is a great feeling when you can find others who are moving in the same direction.  It gives you the reminder that, you are not crazy and that it is possible.  The group I started is growing very well and we actually have just gotten one contract back and put it into escrow yesterday and 3 more that we are working on.  So times are exciting and the snowball is moving.  

As for connecting, I agree lets get together and see how we can benefit each other or at the least encourage one another to keep going and succeed.
