@Tao Xu I recommend Brian Clark with ABC Capital Group. He helped me buy 4 duplexes back in 2008-2009 and just last week helped me sell one of them.

Tell him Fred Weiller sent you.

Hope this helps

@Matt Huber one quick follow up question: could this friendly loan approach work with a family member (same last name) or should it be done with a non family member (different last name)?

Thanks very much,

Fred

@Stephen Preston would you mind sharing the name/contact of the property management company you have been working with?

Cheers,

For Houston look up the properties on hcad.org real property search by property address

You will get the owner's name and mailing address as well as quite a few details about the property (including ownership history).

Hope this helps,

Fred

Nicely done @Iman Yu!

Quick question: is Security National Mortgage these guys at snmc dot com?

I could not find any information about HML on their site.

Cheers,

Fred

A good place to start for gauging a city is BestPlaces.net

It may not have the most recent data but it helps scope an area and easily compares to cities along with the national average.

You can even download the data in spreadsheet format (notice "download.xls" at the right of the top "Housing" category).

Hope this helps,

Fred
