@Charles Morgan thanks for the how-to guide, i found some others as well.  I was quoted $500 to remove it, but if i can do it myself, it would save me $500 and i can learn something new..

@John Woodington I will be painting and replacing the carpet anyway, so i dont really care for the mess.  I am just thinking that i should do it now because later it will make a lot of mess..  Does regular spray bottle work or should i rent something more legit?  it is a 950sq foot condo..

Hi Steve,

Does it matter if the water is hot,warm or cold?  To sand it down, i'm guessing to just buy sand paper?

This property was built in 1982 so i don't think there is asbestos there, i believe they stopped using asbestos after 1978, correct?

I was wondering if anyone here removed popcorn ceiling themselves.  I did some research and it doesn't look that hard: spray with water and scrape it off, then paint, is it that simple? or should i hire someone to remove it?  This is for my rental i just bought and want to do some renovations before i rent it out.
