Global bitcoin mining uses 236 Terra W of energy. Which is .16% of the global energy use and less than half of the energy required to mine gold. 56% of that energy, and growing, came from renewable sources. Go ahead and check these numbers, I want to see if you find something different.
Asic miners are also more efficient by the generation. Because just like everything else - computers, cell phones, gasoline engines, they are becoming smaller, more powerful, and more efficient.
Why not go on a crusade to replace every light bulb on this planet with led?
