When you see this on Zillow, how can you find out additional information?  The listing shows being foreclosed in October, 2019.

We are looking at buying a foreclosure to use as a rental and have about 1/2 of the purchase price in cash. Thinking about a Heloc or home equity loan for the other half. Our main home is paid off. Which of those 2 loans are recommended? And does it matter to our bank what we are doing with the money?

Thank you for all your responses. I was under the impression that "self managing" included using Airbnb or Vrbo, but I am seeing that their fees are so high I am wondering how anyone makes a profit!

I have been looking for some sort of STR calculator to determine profitability but cannot find one. I googled and also searched this forum. Can anyone point me in the direction pls?

Looking to buy a rental in Smoky Mountains but something bothers me about the history of sales. Even if you remove the last 3 months due to Covid, there are so many sales of rental homes that were "outstanding rental performers". Why would so many people sell their great rentals? I don't have an actual figure, it just seems like a lot when you scroll through the "solds".

Many Jersey Shore towns. Seaside Heights, Point Pleasant, Ocean City, Asbury Park are a few that I know of that have all banned short term rentals.

Thank you. The rentals are still on-line, so I contacted a few owners. One of them was very honest and told me that she is not renting to out of staters because the Governor issued a 14 day quarantine for anyone coming in from another state. So that would mean not going out, even for essentials.

In our state and many others, I believe, the Governor ordered a 14 day self- quarantine for anyone entering from another state. That would mean not even going out for essentials. Some owners are not renting to out of staters due to this.

Have there been any restrictions in West Virginia on STR? Specifically the panhandle. Are units still being rented?
