@Ocie Gibson A 3-story home that can be purchased for 9k and rehabbed for 15k?  Was that a typo?

Such an innocent question....    :)

As others have said, it depends on the particulars of the house.  I would think a good local realtor would be best able to give you a general answer.

@Account Closed Thank you. It varies. At the moment, I have 2 in Durham to work on. One is a major renovation, where I'm adding a bedroom and 2 baths. The other is going to be a complete tear down and rebuild new. By the time I get all the approvals from the city for that project, I should have the first one completed!  I'll probably post some pictures of both projects when I'm done.

@Rachel Gill There absolutely is a place for rehabbing and restoring old homes. It's what I primarily do and I find it very profitable, both monetarily and in personal satisfaction.

For you, it will depend on your market, finances and abilities. There are many challenges in the process but it is so worth it.

@Mitch Price You might want to contact @Aaron McGinnis on this site. I think he is in your area. I know him only through his posts here, but he seems to be an experienced and conscientious contractor.

The neighbors on both sides were thrilled; it had been like that for many years. I'm going plant grass later.

@Account Closed Do you like it?  If so, keep it. If not, remove it.
