Good points...I would love to put solar panels but that's not going to happen. Is there a market for green rentals? I was a LEED Green Associate so I am pretty familiar with a lot of the concepts and features, and was thinking of green rentals being a niche to go towards. But of course the numbers would have to work .

Hey all,

I'm new to the forum, so this is my first discussion topic.

I am very into the sustainability movement, personal and professionally, and am hoping to 'green' up my town home and any future properties.

I wanted to see if anyone out there that has a buy and hold and/or are landlords have added 'green' features to their rentals? If so, which features?

Also, do you market your rentals as 'green' units? If so, do you charge more? Is there a demand for such rentals?

Thanks!

Ryan

Hey Brian,

I was too hoping to get more into the small multi unit market, but you're right about not having many. I am currently in the process of doing some upgrades to the town house I bought last year.

My main interests are adding 'green' and sustainable upgrades to homes and then renting them out. I'm looking forward to seeing more NOVA action on BP.

Hi,

I just started listening to BP podcasts after seeing the website once or twice. After long thought and the personal decision to get into real estate, I decided to purchase a home in 2012. I have since lived in my house and had at least 1 roommate at all times. This has brought my mortgage down quite a bit.

My interest in real estate is to Buy and Hold, and even manage. A goal of mine is to have enough passive (sort of) income from these properties to live without a 9-5 job. Actually, I would like to pursue some entrepreneurial journeys of my own, besides real estate.

I am born and raised in the Northern Virginia area, so as so I bought my first home here. I figured, its outside of DC and next to Dulles Airport, land value could only rise over the long haul. I have a long term mentality, but still would like to live it up while I'm young (I'm 25).

So if you made it through this entire post, I thank you and I look forward to taking part in the forum some more.

Ryan
