Hi everyone, thanks for taking the time to read. My question is: What things can I do as a new loan officer to drum up new business?

I sold about 40 homes in about 2.5yrs as a new Realtor and am changing career path here. When I was an agent I got the same 'let's do lunch, let show you my products that are about the same as everyone elses' from loan officers wanting my business. As an agent I had a fundamental issue with this which looked like this "which one of my clients to I care about the least? Then I'll use them as a Guinea pig." I've found this is the issue most agents have.

So, aside from plain old follow up, weekly updates to both sides of a purchase, rocking a deal and then courting the listing agent, keeping clients interest first and professional and self development type stuff...

What can I do to drum up business?! I'm willing to pay for good ideas 😉

thanks a lot!

For anyone who finds this post 4 years later... I just used this to invite a bunch of past clients to a networking event. I'm confident I won't be reported to the FBI for this.

Looking through some hard money lenders that are on the HML section of the site, this stuff is steep. I know people are doing this stuff cheaper but I'm having some trouble finding it.

Looking mostly in Baltimore, Maryland for now

A book like this outlining the different costs is fantastic. I just ordered it, haven't read it. Question is: How accurate can these numbers be for different areas? Can I assume that the same numbers in this book that work in a different area will work in mine?

Thanks @Larry Turowski and @Jamal L. I had the idea to call those signs yesterday but wasn't sure if the deals they bring in are mostly kept by an investor or sold by wholesaler. I was thinking about trying them, myself; I've heard mixed reviews on them.

Seems that I need to get to REIA

What is the best way to find deals from wholesalers have to offer?

Craigslist seems full of spam, deals where the "comps" only look like comps to the same person buying oceanfront property in Arizona.

Looking to begin networking at local REIA.

Still looking but haven't seen anything on my local MLS (looking in Baltimore or Harford County, Maryland) that seems to fit the mold of aquisition + repair = 70% or less of ARV. While this is a rule of thumb, it's actually quite important for me at this point in order to get the 0% financing I want. Anything that looks to fit or be close to 70% ends up being bid higher.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions / advice

@Jonathan O'Dell Good to have you here on BP. I too, am new to the site and plan to invest just as you are doing. I'd like to work with you to find your next investment and network with some investors in the area. I'd enjoy meeting with you sometime soon if you're still looking to expand. Let me know!
