Post: Here's how we should have spent the bailout money

Jon,
I agree with most of what you say. The problem is there are people who should have some help because they got bad advice. Ideally the people who made money on giving this advice should be the ones paying to bail them out.
There are a lot of plans and ideas floating around and none of them are the ideal solution. I don't believe there really is one.
If the banks want to bail them out thats their business. The money the banks get from the government should cost the banks so that it isn't us who are really bailing them out.

Geitner's economic plan was not too well received to say the least. In a poll of 38,000 people 67% said they didn't think it was any good. A few more of these bobbles and Obama will get his head handed to him.
I doubt his stimulus plan would have passed if he hadn't chose a Republican to be in his cabinet. Batten down the hatches the storm may get a lot worse.

I think CNBC will do a good job on that report. They have some very savvy people over there and they bring some very smart ones on the show. Heck, they even bring Democrats on!

Welcome to the forum Scott. I would imagine you will meet some RE investors in your work. Ask lots of questions at work and also here on the forum and it won't take long for you to get enough knowledge to learn what you really need to know.
Good luck,

Terry welcome to the forum. You said it was good in the mountains of Colorado, but that probably should be amended to say its good and deep there (the snow that is).
Good luck,

Very well said Donald. If everyone believed like you do the RE melt down would end sooner rather than later.Keep the faith.

Never pass up a good deal. Many times you can option a property for a few bucks while you figure out what to do with it. Start building a buyers list so that if you run into something that doesn't fit what you decided to concentrate on, you can run it past your buyers.

Rich,

You wouldn't believe it now. Santa Maria/Orcutt is well over 100,000 people now and before the meltdown was building like crazy. Not too much farm fields in Orcutt any more. You ought to come and visit the area if you're not too far away.
Good luck,

I don't believe its over yet. Like you said they have to run it by the house and see if they will go along with the cuts. I'll believe it when the guy in the White House actually signs it. A lot can happen between now and then.
I believed the one reporter when he said they have to pass it so he won't suffer a defeat so early in his administration.
Heaven help us for the next four years!

Welcome Matt. Hows the RE business in Yucaipa these days?
I moved from there up to the Central Coast 8 years ago. Can't say as I miss it that much compared to here but as they say different strokes for different folks.
