Post: What’s one habit that’s changed your life?

The 1 habit that has changed my life is reading.

Everything changed for me when I picked up my first book.

One of the most powerful lessons I’ve learned is the value of compound effort.

Just like compound interest in finance, small daily habits build exponential growth over time.

Whether it's reading 10 minutes a day, making one new connection, or analyzing one deal, consistency beats intensity every time.

What’s one habit that’s changed your life?

Quote from @Jay Hinrichs:

PS I owe our success to this project to my Wife.. if we listened to our GC he would have put in what all the other  GC or builders do.. Its all her vision.. I just make sure we have the funding to make the project go.. And of course find the project and run it through entitlements so I have something to contribute :)

 Love this!!

One of the reasons why I’m bullish on real estate investing is because I am more afraid of the “what if I didn’t invest” rather than the “what if it goes wrong.”

Yes, I could fail and lose everything I started with, but I’d still be farther along than if I never started at all.

I’d have the knowledge, skills, and lessons that only come from taking action.

Every misstep is a step forward when you’re learning and adapting.

The real risk isn’t failure, it’s standing still and letting fear hold you back.

Take action!!!

Quote from @Jay Hinrichs:

for us we do very little marketing we rely on MLS what we do to compete is spend an extra 10k or so per house with upgrades other builders simply wont do.. All geared towards the MRS. who as we know is the major decision maker.. So spend NO money on advertising and use that money to make our product stand out..

this has led us to raise our prices Far above our competition more than makes up for it and we sell them as fast as we can build them.. for us thats delivering 2.5 homes per month.

Great strategy and we are similar!

We try to go 1 step further than the national builders we are competing with. Quartz countertops, fully tiled bathrooms, higher ceilings and doors, LVP flooring throughout.

 Yes!
Great book as well especially for getting everyone focused towards a common goal.  I still use the checklists/grading system for staff evaluation.

Such a good book, we run our company off of the EOS

We sold 1 new construction home on Friday, 11/29, and have 4 more set to close in December!

The market is moving, people want to own real estate, and buyers are out there.

It all comes down to marketing and pricing.

If your product isn’t moving, it’s time to reassess:
1) Are you getting as many eyes as possible on your product? The RIGHT eyes?
2) How are your listing photos and marketing description?
3) Is your product positioned to compete?
4) Are you adjusting to the market’s demands?

What are you doing to make your product stand out?

Lessons from some of my favorite books: (Which is your favorite?)

The Go-Giver:
- “Your true worth is determined by how much more you give in value, than you take in payment”

The Voice of Knowledge:
- “It’s not important to be right, or make others wrong. Instead, you see everybody as an artist, a storyteller. You know that whatever they believe is just their point of view. It has nothing to do with you.”

The Mastery of Love:
- “Selfishness, control, & fear will break almost any relationship. Generosity, freedom, and love will create the most beautiful relationship."

The Psychology of Money:
- “I have something that he will never have …. Enough”
- “Your success as an investor will be determined by how you respond to punctuated moments of terror, not the years spend on cruise control”

The Noticer:
- “One way to define wisdom, is the ability to see into the future the consequences of your choices in the present. That ability can give you a completely different perspective on what the future might look like.”

The Millionaire Real Estate Investor:
- “Under Promise & Overdeliver”

Think & Grow Rich:
- “There are no limitations to the mind except those we acknowledge. Both poverty and riches are the offspring of thought”

Mans Search for Meaning:
- “What matters, is not the meaning of life in general but rather the specific meaning of a person’s life at a given moment”

The Richest Man in Babylon:
- “To attract goodluck to oneself, it is necessary to take advantage of opportunities”
- “Men of action are favored by the goodness of good luck”

The Millionaire Next Door:
- “Looks can be deceiving”

Hey @Michael Brattelli, thanks for the comment! I also agree with the grey/white. I didn't hear this from Buyers, but I personally am tired of seeing it.

The previous 3 years we strictly did the grey/white, but now thats out least built color scheme.

Whenever I speak to a group of students interested in real estate, I always stress the importance of networking and simply asking people to coffee.

I even tell them to reach out to me if they have questions, knowing only a few will actually follow through.

And that’s what sets high performers apart from the rest: taking action when most people hold back.

If you’re just starting out, remember, one conversation could change everything.

Don’t hesitate to take that first step.
