Post: Finding a House Hacking Friendly Tax Professional

Hi guys & gals. House hacking represents a unique tax scenario. I'm not sure a cookie-cutter tax professional from the big box stores will do.

Any tips on finding a tax preparer who is house hack knowledgeable? Specifically what questions should one ask to ascertain if they are in good hands or not?

Looking for tips before seeking one out. I'll report back once I've got my own done as to my process.

Thanks in advance.

@Craig Curelop Thank you! I'll give those a look. Your book is next if I can get through my current list :)

Hi @Craig Curelop! Thanks for doing this. I'm currently house hacking and looking to do my second house hack here soon.

For those not looking to rent to family or friends to reduce any conflicts that might arise from a close relationship being tainted by business gone awry.

Do you have any tips on finding roommates? Besides the usual university boards/craiglist/Facebook.

Thanks in advance!

Cozy.co has a listing option as well. Make sure to specify this is for a room. It might behoove you to do some research on room rental rates in the area as well (I've had this issue before in the past).

Thanks for the replies @Derek Dombeck and @Account Closed It seems every deal is unique.

The only way to get better at custom deals is practice so I'll roll up my sleeve!

I've searched high and low but found no decent templates for requesting owner financing from homeowners/landlords.

Does anyone have a typical letter they send they are willing to share?

Thanks in advance!
