As someone who’s going to be jumping into the Dayton area, I appreciate you sharing your experiences! We’ve seen RPM on a broad list of contractors...is this the same company and they just do “management” as well as contract work?

Welcome! I'm also out of state (technically out of country for now), also investing in Dayton OH and looking for similar properties. Being from Atlanta, what made you pick the Dayton area?

My wife and I are in a similar boat, as we're stationed in Germany for the next couple years. We've been using this time to get educated and put more emphasis on frugality. But, we have a partner we've teamed up in my home town to try to get started from afar. Not being "on the ground" has already been difficult...but mostly just annoying. We can make phone calls and schedule times with realtors/contractors but we can't go look at the properties with them and have to rely on other people (worst part) to get things done. Overall it's a pain but definitely doable. We're not going to let our time here hold us back from getting started. Good luck and enjoy the tour!

Still searching for the right realtor, but we have a house in mind in Fairborn and we’re trying to have family go see it tomorrow or this weekend. Any suggestions for a contractor in the area as well? Thanks in advance!

Hi! The husband here. We’re excited to be going on this journey, but the distance certainly presents some other problems for us. Noted on the property management, we’ll definitely take that seriously when the time comes and we really appreciate the lead!

Our first step though is finding a realtor that has experience in investment properties than can somewhat make up for our lack of experience investing. So far we’ve been blown off by one realtor and the other just set us up with automated emails, and we’re hoping for some more hands on help since we’re so far away.

I guess we’re hoping for a realtor that can suggest specific properties that would be viable options for us. So far, access to this realtor’s website isn’t any different than us browsing on Zillow or Trulia. We’re hoping for a more personalized approach.

Thanks in advance!
