That is one incredible story @Eric Braden! Welcome to BiggerPockets, the place to be to learn and grow your real estate business. I have been on the site for months now and have just grazed the surface of information here. It's a large site and will feed an appetite for learning for many years.

What type of investing are you interested in learning about?

Most people on this site would believe that the majority of their retirement should come from real estate and that investing in the stock market is an alternative. I believe the reason being is that real estate allows the investor to control the investment and create there own returns that beat stocks. People who want less returns with less effort should choose stocks.

I have recently become a fan of "I Love Real Estate Stories" on youtube!! Great quality stuff right there!!!

I absolutely love that Jonny Wu quote!!!

Welcome Brian,

Drinking from a firehose is what I've been doing for the past few months! Here you can find articles, videos, webinars, forum posts, blogs, podcasts of course, books to read, business contacts, mentors and the list goes on and on. This site in my opinion is as important to RE investors as TV was to the news back in the day!

Search the site for anything of interest in the white box in the upper right hand corner. Check out the podcasts!! There are 148 or so of them, all with phenomenal content!

Connect here on the forums with any questions.

And make sure to hit up the Boise Investor Group along with the monthly BiggerPockets meetups that Jonna and @Lisa Kohl put together.

Are you looking at buying turn-key rentals where the property cashflows with management already in place? If I were to invest out of state I would research and interview turn-key property management companies. I've heard good things about midsouth home buyers in memphis tn. And I know jason hartman has turn key properties in select markets around the US. It'll be worth checking out.

I'd highly recommend first learning how to analyze what makes a great rental and learn the numbers. BiggerPockets has a rental calculator that is super easy to use to run numbers on properties. It's free to us for up to five times.

Awesome Daniel! It's great to see you on the forums. It's easy to get overwhelmed with all the information here on the site, but it has been so beneficial for me in the learning process. Be sure to set up key word alerts   to get notified by email anytime someone posts something of interest. O, and become a podcast listening junkie like me!

Welcome to the site Jim! Have you already checked out portfolio lenders for funding your next deal? I've heard that there is no limit depending on your circumstance along with 25% down on a cashflowing property. BiggerPockets has a nice rental calculator for evaluating deals. You can even print out the spreadsheet to show potential lenders.

Yes @Brad Chandler we do have a Keller Williams office nearby and they are actually at the top of our list of brokers. My wife and I like the fact that you choose them even though you are not super active as an agent and we really are after the training.
