Harrison, what areas of town are you looking at? Jax is a great city for house hacking but you have to be careful where you decide to buy. Feel free to PM me if you would like more info.

The previous posts here are spot on. I would add that Springfield has wide variances from street to street. Generally the further north and west you go, the worse it gets. I would be leery buying a flip around there if you are just starting out. I love the architecture and history behind the area, but big houses + historic district = pricey renovation. Probably why you see so many half-completed renovations there. Just my .02.
