The squatters friends took over the place. The lawyer is not helping me at all. The cops didn’t help either. The place is of the squatters friends. Nyc needs to revise their laws. The only person who is benefiting is the lawyer. Each time when we go to court I have to pay him. I can’t keep up anymore. Twice a month court appearances is $600. $600 per month for the past 8 months. Maybe I should have done cash for keys

I have squatters who broke into my house in December 2017. I called the cops, but the cops didn’t help. They said I should go to housing court. This is queens ny. So I hired a lawyer to do the paperwork and represent me in court. The first time we went to court the judge adjourned the case because the squatters didn’t have a lawyer. We went back to court after 2 weeks and the squatters didn’t show up but their said he got arrested he is in jail. We have been going to court in and out every 2 weeks and nothing is happening. My lawyer is saying he can’t settle the case because the squatter is in jail. We went to court 8 different times and the judge is keeping on adjoining the case. What Should I do in this situation? Can anyone help me with ideas. The judge is saying we can’t settle the case because the squatter is in jail. I feel like changing the lawyer. What is the way out? The squatter got arrested after we started the case.

Hello Ray! There’s section 8 everywhere not only on south side Chicago.

Am interested in investing in south side Chicago. How much is section 8 paying rent for 1,2,3 bedrooms per month?
