if it is valued at the 4-5k as you say, according to the provided info, i would offer the 4k. no reason to pay more than it is worth. i think he is playing jabs with you. with the flat info provided, i would take this as a learning experience and move to the next deal. just sounds very fishy to me.

Sorry, i should have worded it better. What i tried to describe as to ask if there is a country- wide website where people list FSBO properties. I've tried to google search for one but could not find it.
I don't have any direct need or interest for one, but I have had quite a few people ask me this and I am somewhat curious myself.

what I mean is something like craigslist, but only for homes, not endorsed or related to the MLS. Sort of like armslist for guns, which I guess would be the best example I could think of.

I agree. For the price and effort it isn't bad. Do you think it will become more beneficial in the future, using Facebook adds. I think it will once the computer systems get more accurate algorithms regarding these targeted ads. I could be wrong though and my knowledge of virtual advertising is less than novice

great insight guys :) thanks for the replies.
especially regarding the mention of 'soft' skills such as the interacting with people, staying calm in tough situations, persistence, building the habit of hard work, and learning to analyze.
thumbs up

I apologize for probably not wording this extremely well, but for for example if you were a teacher, contractor, police officer, attorney, IT specialist, engineer, etc etc etc...
How have you been able to translate or transition knowledge from your previous field into your investing career? I ask for this two reasons: 1. To see if I may be able to assist some people in regurgitating previous knowledge from their past/part/full time job into who it may benefit them in real estate. And 2. To see if anybody else has been able to link connections between two careers thus preventing the unneeded task of 'learning theoretically the same thing twice?'
For me I find my career and real estate career to be very different. But one thing I have been able to do is organize systems in real estate to my career, like using a set algorithm as a base and making changes as needed, and looking at different sections of real estate first as a whole and then splitting them into parts. Besides that, this has been a big transition. Any other takers???
And happy thanksgiving:)
