Will do Melissa! Thank you for the encouragement.

No I'm not looking for a fixer upper, but I would consider it if the circumstances and numbers lined up.

Happy Holidays all!

Quick question: does anyone have any real estate agent recommendations for Sacramento, CA? Particularly, I am looking for someone with experience in helping investors find and secure profitable residential (2 to 4 units) multi-family house hacking deals in the area.

My goal as a first-time buyer is to begin house hacking profitably in summer 2016 (by end of August the latest). I have several Sacramento zip codes already in mind, and after my independent research and several conversations with other RE investors, I am more serious about making this a reality. This is also my first discussion-starting post (minus saying hello)! I told myself I would only do so when I was ready to commit.

Any referrals that you could share with me would be great - thank you, BP!

@Kenny Mullen! Welcome to BP and to real estate investing in general! I by no means can take you under my wings as I am learning to fly myself - however, after being here for about 2 weeks I can share with you with:

1. Know clearly why you want to start investing in real estate. Then, don't lose that focus.

2. These BP forums, articles, podcasts, etc. have a WEALTH of knowledge out there! Be sure to search for some keywords or topics that you want to explore and look for (I'm sure there are) other conversations that have already happened that address your concerns.

3. Ask questions ask questions! Thankfully, the BP community is very kind and willing to answer whatever questions that may come up - so don't feel "embarrassed" if you have a question that you may think is silly, because you may be helping someone else get their questions voiced.

4. View the profiles of those that seem to be doing what you want to be doing and connect with them to learn from their experience. Maybe there's a particular market you want to enter, maybe you want to understand how a certain investing strategy worked for that person and how could it be applied to you, etc. Just don't hesitate to reach out - I've received nothing but friendly responses back so far.

5. In person Meetups! BP or MeetUp.com hand REI Associations have frequent meetups basically everywhere in the US (from what I'm understanding) - take the first physical step of putting yourself out there and start connecting with people that have done the walk and can provide advice/connections for your area!

Hopefully that was helpful. Don't lose the fire! Persistence will be key.

@Al Williamson I'm interested if there's still room - looking forward to update on date and time. If it's on the weekend, I can also be +1 with my fiancée.

Looking forward to meeting!

@John Mejia welcome to BP! I'm out in the Berkeley area and definitely would be down to connect with you in the near future. I'm still learning the ropes myself and excited to glean from others' experiences and dreams.

Hope to talk soon!

@Reginald Johnson welcome to BP! As someone who has family living in Riverdale, GA, I'm very curious to hear why you moved to Atlanta and, given your experience in REI, what your thoughts are on the current market in the area?

Wow @Penny Clark thank you for sharing your introduction into the RE space - your perspective helps to show that there's not just "one" way to enter and develop your investments. Excited to see how you two continue to grow them.

And yes to @Sergey Tkachev's note, the Sacramento RE Club is having it's monthly meeting tomorrow. It will actually be the first time myself - hope to meet you there as well!

And of course, welcome to BP!

Best,

Anthony
