@Katie Miller “be greedy when others are fearful” - @Russell Brazil (among others).

A private equity firm named L Catterton recently announced they invested 400M into Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines. That investment is senior convertible debt, that pays 7 percent interest. If things go right, they’ll own 20 percent of carnival.

The cruise industry will rebound and they’ll make a fortune.

The “L” in L Catterton, refers to LVMH, which is backed by the worlds 3rd richest man.

A couple months ago, the Saudi investment fund bought 8 percent of carnival cruise lines.

Most people wouldn’t be buying cruise line stock right now, but it’s very cheap and the rebound will be strong (even if it takes a few years)

@Victoria Jackson find another “investor” that isn’t family. Investing with family isn’t a good idea to begin with

@Scott Passman is this considered a success to you? You had to spend more money on a property that wasn’t turnkey at all, and your rent barely moved?

I’m glad you had some equity upside but this risk vs the reward doesn’t seem there at all.

@Chris Reyes 1. Don’t buy long distance. 2. You think you want to do it. Don’t do it

The only caveat would be buying into large apartments. Buying individual rentals long distance isn’t worth your time.

I’ve done it, don’t do it.

@Lee Yoder are you self-employed? If you are, I would argue you’re better off investing time and money into your PT practice instead of syndicating.

People are blaming everything on Covid. Now in your case, I think it’s likely most of it is due to covid. But do you think Uber laying off lots of people is all because of Covid? They lost billions of dollars before the pandemic and will just lose more now.

Also syndicating is not some magical business that’ll just automatically make you rich. It’s fot more moving parts than other forms of investing and right now your job would be even harder, as most people do not want to buy into illiquid assets when prices are still at pre-pandemic levels

@Tia Wilson 12 percent appreciation over 10 years is terrible.

Don’t buy long distance. I recommend any other strategy

@William Richard Arens a tax appraisal is meaningless for fair market value. It’s probably worth a lot more.

They should sell the farm (not to you).

What kind of business invests 3 million, is worth 70M but you can’t get your money back??

If this a private business? Or is it a scam? Something seems off.
