@Christopher Thorpe

I’m interested to see the responses as well since I’m looking at investing long distance in SA, where the family is. Let’s see who’s out there willing to share... ☺️

Thanks Milton! Yeah it's great out here. I appreciate the links. I'm getting used the site and how it works so I'll definitely see what I can find.

Hello BP World!

My name is Brian Shannon and I am new to real estate investing.  I was told about the BP podcast by a friend and I was hooked.  I have never bought property but I've been a long time saver and have built up a healthy runway.  It's time to put that war chest to work!

I'm living abroad in Germany but want to apply David Greene's long distance real estate investing strategies into buying my first property.  I'm interested in multi-family homes but haven't been able to figure out how to decide where in the US to start.  Being from San Antonio with family there, I think that's a good place but have no idea.  I'll take any advice on how to decide where to invest.

I'm excited to join the community and thank you in advance for your replies!

Hi there BP friends!

I'm new to the game and have been absorbing multiple books/webinars/podcasts, but I haven't seen anything yet about how to pick a place to invest in.  I'm living abroad and looking to buy my first long distance property.  While that means I have the entire USA to pick from...that also means I have the ENTIRE USA to pick from.  It's got me held up in the process.  I'm leaning on San Antonio since I have family there but is familial proximity a good reason to invest in one city over another?  Also, is San Antonio a good place for long distance investment? How do I compare multi-family property from one city to the next?  So many questions.

I'm sure it's in here and I'm just not savy enough to find it yet. Can anyone point me to the resources for doing Market Analysis or guides on how to pick a city/place to invest in?  I imagine there's no cookie cutter plan but if there's something that just lays out questions to ask yourself, it would be a great start.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks Bruce!  You're right.  There's a lot of rules and restrictions for foreign investment in CH.  One of the apartments/condo complexes a friend of mine is in had 2 out 20 units zoned for foreign purchase.  It's a completely different ballgame out here.  So much so, I'm thinking I should cut my teeth on US property first, then explore the foreign property game. Thanks again and we'll see what happens.

I’m moving to Geneva soon to start my MBA program and I’m interested in buying a property in the Geneva area. I’m looking for anyone knowledgeable on the process and willing to chat with a bright-eyed American dreamer that wants to live there eventually long term. Thanks in advance!
