Post: Asheville Landlord lawyer recommendation

Hey BP,

I am in search of a great landlord lawyer in the Asheville North Carolina area to help me write up a lease agreement/roommate agreement. Preferably one that invests in real estate themselves that can understand my unique position, as I am attempting to househack my property.

Any and all recommendations or tips are welcome, of course!

Thank you!

@JD Martin what I have is a "roomate agreement" so I should be ok with that, right?

The house I bought is in Fletcher, actually. Only about 15 minutes from Asheville. Is there anyone in your network I could connect with? I am really in search of a good mentor.

Thank you again!

I have a prospective tenant that is willing to move into my first rental property sight unseen from across the country. This will be a "roommate" situation, since it is my primary residence. She has asked me the following question and I don't exactly know what it means or how to answer:

"Are you the landlord, so if you did rent me the room my rent/deposit payment wouldn’t just look like a personal transaction?"

As the owner of the property, is there a certain way I need to go about the rent/deposit payment? I would rather either cash or maybe even Venmo.

Thank you for your input!

Hey Bigger Pockets,

I am waiting for my house to be built that I used a USDA loan for.   It will be completed in November, so about 6 months from now.  So my idea is to buy a fixer-upper in an up and coming location and fix it up for the next few months while my house is being built, and then rent out the newly fixed-up house when my house is ready for me to move into in November.  I'm worried if I take out another loan, that will affect my ability to keep my USDA loan.  Who should I talk to about this?

Thank you!

Post: Should I house hack my new construction home?

The plan is to rent out the other bedroom in my 2/1.5 new construction home for the time being, refinance, and invest in another property. Are there any books or specific podcast episodes I should check out? I have already purchased "The House Hacking Strategy" off the BP bookstore.

This is my first post on BP, and I realize this might be very vague (and possibly a bad idea), but I would love to hear some feedback, tips, or suggestions!
