Hey Andrew Mittelstadt ! Thanks for the response! My parents are on board with the whole process and are talking it through with me. Contrary to popular belief, my parents don't want to kick me out and lock the door like some people may think, Ey? 😉 I do have a $2500 saved up in an emergency fund, from proceeds of downsizing cars! I'm just going to wait it out and see what things come up! Thanks for everyone's opinion, we made it to the trending topic 😉

Hi Scott Sirovy ! My church just started financial peace university a few weeks ago, but sadly we missed the deadline to join! I am however very aware of some of his concepts from reading most of financial peace, and listening to his podcast! I do agree that getting rid of these loans would be freeing, and give me more cash coming in without having to pay my loan! But I also want to explore the idea of making more interest with the money, and paying my loans off faster! It's funny you mention the ring thing, because my girlfriend had mentioned a cz ring! She said she heard of a fake diamond that looks "even more shiny" than a real ring, and at a fraction of the price! So I think she may be open to that idea absolutely! Which could be a nice 1000$ or so savings! The only other thing with that, is since I was 18 I have been saving for a ring. I wasn't dating my current girlfriend yet, but I knew that eventually I would have to buy a ring! So I stared saving early, and I do have 3k saved specifically for that! But again, that could easily be used for something else!

Thanks everyone for your opinions! I know everyone has their own way of doing things, their own levels of risk, and personal beliefs. I really appreciate everyone's advice, and I know it's hard not knowing all the details, but it all helps!(mostly). I'm not going to rush into anything just now. I have been meeting with a local wholesaler who has achieved great success, and might use some of the money towards that. If that doesn't feel right for me, or feel like something I would enjoy, I won't do it! I truly just enjoy Business, and making money. To me at this point, I'm not necessarily focused on making as much as I can, but having fun and learning! Whatever I think will benefit me most over the next few months, I will pursue. Thanks everyone!

Ed E. thank you! I have always lived more on the motto of try as hard as you can, and when it goes wrong, figure it out and fix it :) similar to what Kiyosaki says in rich dad poor dad, that he saves or invests more than he thinks he can, so he is forced to make it work :)

Greg S. I do believe I have an understanding on it is the difference. I was able to work while in school and pay over 15k of my loans off in 2 years while In school, as well as finishing a double major in business management and accounting before 21. Im going to live with my parents as long as they will let me for free, so I can save as much as possible and have a running start being a "full time adult"

Pete Perez what did you end up starting with? Realestate or something else? I'm interested to hear, as it looks as though you are in the same area, and know how the market is here in Seattle is now I'm sure!

One last thing I forgot to mention, I do have a Roth IRA I got when I was 18, and that has about 3k in it as well, I haven't contributed to it much since I had so much student loan expenses! I also am contributing 10% to my Roth 401k at my new job, which will be about 6k per year after my employer match and taxes!

Hey everyone! I totally see what all of you are saying about the risks of it, and the uncertainty of it all. I have 3k saved up for an engagement ring, as well as 3k saved up as an emergency fund, and 2k that I use for "business" things, like flipping cameras which I do and make decent money doing that occasionally! I absolutely see the risks involved, I mean even just holding money seems risky to me, thinking inflation. It might be smarter just to use it towards my loans, and my "cash flow" can be the money saved in interest. But I will want to move out and move closer (hour and a half commute right now) soon, which then will be a large expense im not paying right now...
