I am new to real estate investing, just graduated college, and I am 22 years young. I am starting to gain knowledge in real estate so when I get a full time job and have money to invest I will be ready. Does anyone know of any real estate groups in the Barrington, Illinois area that I could join/attend meetings? Or other real estate events?

@Steve Rozenberg first, thank you for commenting on my post. Second, my goal is to be financially free by age 35 to 40 and maybe at some point make real estate investing my full time job. My goal is to never feel like I have to work a normal 9 to 5. I want to be able to have the freedom to live my life without being held back. Do you have any advice from that stand point? Or know anyone who does?

@Daniel Haberkost At the moment I just have an internship so my financial future is a little unsteady at the moment, I don't want to buy something and then find that at the end of the job I an unemployed so I am just researching at the moment.

Thank you for the tips, I definitely want to start getting involved in real estate groups and finding a mentor and possibly even a partner if it works. Like you said, it will help me get out of my comfort zone as well as gain a lot more knowledge.

@Justin Moy That is awesome to hear that you are in a similar boat as me! I just have an internship at the moment, still looking for a full time job so for the moment I have been reading a lot. The last book I read was Retire Early with Real estate and now I am reading the book on rental property investing! I have a list of books I want to read so I will add that one to the list!

What are some opinions about investing in student housing with the impact of COVID? Will next year be a big lose for investors who rent out apartments to students (both universities and community colleges)? Unsure at this point?
