@Bill Pate you saved the day, lol. I started getting worried until I saw your post. I am in Cleveland as well (Eastlake/Mentor) and plan to start investing this summer. Maybe we can connect!

Welcome @Brandon Barry! I joined BP a few years ago but disappeared. But, now that I'm a bit more serious about this goal, I'm back...and for good.

I'm in the Eastlake area, looking to invest in Cleveland.  First, it's my home. Second, it seems great for the buy and hold strategy.

Let's connect at some point. Good luck with everything!

@Justin Lemaster I agree and feel the same about Cleveland, Ohio. Its surrounding suburbs even have so much value! As I continue my search, I feel lucky to be near communities that will aid me in my investing plans.

Unless I'm missing something, it seems very obvious that these markets have great value. I can't wait to get my hands on my first deal.

@Jorge Hernandez hope that answers your question:-)

@Gabriel Martinez I played around with this too,  not knowing which direction to take as they both seemed appealing. Constant research and thought led me to the buy and hold strategy, but I am open to a flip if it makes sense.

In my area, there are surrounding suburbs that have great rental value. Homes that are fairly decent (appearing to only need cosmetic fixes) are selling dirt cheap. These homes are selling fast, I believe as investments since many are looking to rent in these areas. So I believe buy and hold will work in this area.

Like @Edward B. said, it really depends on your goals and what the market tells you.

Good luck in making your choice. I am also new to this...still learning. Hope to move on my first deal soon!
